Results of a 5-Year Study at The Northwest Clinical Nutrition Center
An average of 57.3 pounds at the end of the Core Program (12-16 weeks).
51.5 pounds at the end of the 6 month maintenance program.
37.2 pounds at the 5-year follow-up.
Our program works because of the following components:
- Lifestyle education: Overeating is often due to stress, old habits or emotions. Identifying these triggers, and learning
how to manage your food intake is critical for long-term
success. Group support and encouragement are key factors
to losing weight.
- Medical: Obesity is related to many other health problems which may require medical attention. Our physicians are
trained to recognize these conditions and to monitor changes
as your weight changes. Since our patients usually lose a significant amount of weight quickly, we require regular monitoring to reduce health risks. Robert A. Kanter, M.D.
has been the Program Director since 1982.

- Nutrition: We offer the OPTIFAST Formula, an excellent nutritional formula which provides 100% of the RDI for vitamins and minerals. Registered Dieticians will teach nutrition skills when food is gradually added back to your eating plan.
